Cannabis can be a powerful aid for patients with alcoholism. Patients report years of sobriety which the y attribute all or in part to cannabis use.

This finding has been strongly corroborated by numerous physicians who perform cannabis evaluations.

Alcohol abuse is a very serious medical and sociological disease causing harm to not only the alcoholic, but to their families, colleagues, and to society at large.

Any modality that has the potential to help people abstain from alcohol deserves the highest level of attention.

May serious professionals in the drug treatment community would argue that using cannabis to treat alcoholism is simply substituting one drug for another.

Others are against the use of psychoactive medications as a drug treatment option, relying instead on abstinence fortified with a spiritual support.

Unfortunately, for these approaches are effective. Cannabis should certainly be considered as a legitimate treatment option especially in light of the devastating effects of alcohol abuse.
