Neuropathy is a painful condition resulting from inflammation of peripheral nerves.

It is a common consequence of diabetes (diabetic peripheral neuropathy) but is also seen in patients with spinal cord injuries, herniated discs compressing nerve roots (radiculitis or sciatica), as well as in several medical conditions including AIDS cancer and vitamin deficiency.

It can also result as a side effect of certain medications. Treatment usually consists of pain medications, anti seizure medications, or a combination of both often with limited success. Cannabis can be very effective for all forms of neuropathic pain. Patients report excellent analgesia with a minimum of adverse side effects.

Patients consistently report that cannabis is superior to prescription medications.
